that looks like skip trowel hand applied texture. I did it in our laundry room. it wasn't very hard for me but it was difficult for my boyfriend, lol. just be sure to practice, practice, practice! I practiced the way I wanted it to come out using different skip trowel application methods (specifically making an "s") and it turned out beautiful! hardest part is making it all uniform.

oh I forgot to mention I practiced on scrap sheets of dry wall. It helps when your family and boyfriend family are in the construction business. Bet you could find some in the dumpster though, our scraps at a hardware store.

dang I'm doing it again! the wall also looks like it was already textured with a Hopper, possibly lightly sanded and the skip trowel texture I mentioned, over previous texture.
