Hi,

I stained my cedar deck with HD Behr stain 2 years ago and the whole think is peeling all over like crazy now, also it came out way too dark for my taste. I want to redo it the right way using good products this time. Went to my local paint store and they carry Cabot & other good brands. The guy gave me stripper and said it should get rid of the Behr stuff. I was at work on the deck half the day yesterday. It was a bit chilly arount 47-48F and the can mentioned working with it above 50F but I figure it was ok. Well a fair amount of the old stuff came out but far from completely. I used a power washer and acid brush and plenty of elbow oil. Still the deck look like a big orange mess. Yes all the peeling stuff is gone and in some parts raw wood is now exposed but I don't think I will be able to go for any stain other than full solid color.

Should I give it another round of stripping treatment ? Should I use a different product this time ? Any recommendation welcome.
