I'd focus on paint, countertops and flooring. Your cabinetry looks pretty good, so consider using a new product from rustoleumtransformations.com to change the color easily. Might rethink the unfinished looking built-in area at the stove top (actually some trim could bring it up to speed,) but otherwise, unless you hate the style, take the simple solution and put the money on new appliances, flooring and decor.

Thanks for your comment! We are thinking along the same lines for the cabinets. Then there is that interesting hood that is over the stove..... Thanks for the trim idea. My husband defiantly wants to remove the "legs".
