6/28 Activities

Please, don't wait on me to start this thread. I might sleep til noon, so if it isn't listed, and you want to, go ahead and get it started.

Today, I want to get to the post office and mail off the quilts. I got half of the tie quilt ready to quilt and lo and behold, Prissy was sleeping on it when I got up this morning....dumb cat! Right now, it's 82* in the shade with the weather personnel saying it will get to 92* and a 50% chance of thunderstorms. It thundered and lightninged last night but I didn't hear any rain. DGS is here for the day so probably won't get much done......Chicken Pasta Salad for lunch.

Hope you all are well.....

Cats on quilts? Who would allow such a thing?!?!?!
LOL, I guess I would. Here's Jack Bauer on the quilt top I just finished. It goes to the long armer on Thursday.

After a lovely weekend, I'm back to work so not much fun stuff for me today. Although I think I'm going to sneak some time to look up quilt pantographs so I have some idea of what I want for this quilt.

    Have a great day, Quilters!

I have to work this morning (should probably get off the computer and get going LOL) then I have to finish writing a little talk I have to give tonight at my Guild on Showing Quilts at Agircultural Fairs. I have it mostly written but just have to copy some info for hand-outs. Then it is off to run errands and pick-up DD from work. Not sure what the family will have for dinner but since it is our last Guild meeting of the year we are having a potluck so I will be well fed!

It is about 75F and very muggy. We are expecting showers today then cooler temps but sunshine for the rest of the week.

I saw a tote bag the other day that was embroidered with a quote "No outfit is complete without cat hair". I have to go back and get it.

Today is my semi day of rest after 4 days of digging, dividing and selling a ton of daylilies. I need to wrap up the sale with some paperwork and clean my house. How does the house get so messy when we are only home to sleep?

My husband is really pushing me to sell quilted items at the sale next year. The festival is a great mix of plants and garden art and anything made by hand that is garden related. So, I am going to start planning for next year with ideas and fabric. It would be a great way for me to do wall hangings and practice my hand quilting. I need to do something constructive while my real estate business is down. I have too much free time on my hands!

16C here...60F...and sunny. Got back late last night from our weekend away. Sharon, I did 5 crumb blocks...didn't have a big lot of scraps as I gave most away during the fabric purge.

Today I have ...as my Mom would say...a 'doryload' of clothes to wash...thank heavens it is sunny so they will go out on the clothesline. I just came back from my walk. My sis dropped by for a cuppa and then my other sis and her DH dropped by and had bagels and tea. I haven't seen them for a while so it was nice to get caught up on all the gossip.

I am going to piddle around outdoors...do some weeding around the flowers and put some fish emulsion on them. DH is painting the deck. Later I may bake a cake or go to the bank...depends on my mood. I'd like to take the dog for a walk but he doesn't always want to go...he'll be 12 this year and likes to laze around and sleep most of the time. We have some fresh trout for our evening meal...supper. I'll fry them with some margarine and have a salad or some boiled potatoes and carrots. DH likes coffee with fish so I'll perk a bit in the little container that you put on the stove top. Maybe do a little sewing after supper when DH heads to the pond to see if any more trout can be caught.

Hope you all have a happy day.

Kate, Jack is very handsome! And he looks pleased that you made him a quilt.

Sharon, apparently cats love to be hot. When I was a kid we had outdoor cats and they would always lie on the sidewalk in the afternoon sun...95 degrees and the sidewalk had to be about 150 from the sun shining on it all day.

I'm just working this week. I'll maybe do a little sewing in the evenings. Got the annual ob/gyn appt Wed. (woohoo) and an appt to renew my driver's license on Fri. Have any of you FL ladies had to do that yet this year? Now they are requiring a boat load of paperwork to prove you are who you say you are. I've been married to the same guy for 27 years, lived in the same house for 18 years, and worked at the same job for 13 years. But I have to prove who I am and where I live. Geez.

I'm cleaning our "unfinished" storage room in the basement so I can store some more junk - actually my "retired" school stuff until I decide to part with it! It is just so hard to give up books (young adult/teen novels) I will take the dog for a walk before it gets too hot - supposed to be 90+ today. I need to make some more 1/2SquareT for this quilt and rearrange some of the blocks for better color balance. (I have such a hard time with scrappy!) She's not graduating until next spring so I feel like I have a real jump on it! It's on the ping-pong table otherwise the dog would be on it!

Will grill some salmon for dinner along with some fresh steamed veggies and a salad.
Hope everyone has a great day!

"I saw a tote bag the other day that was embroidered with a quote "No outfit is complete without cat hair"."

LOL - my friend has a sign in her kitchen that says "The secret ingredient is cat hair!"

Got up early for me so the day seems long already. Did some hand quilting while watching my taped Fri. 'Jeopardy'. Did a little weeding-house work and played with the computer for a while. GD is coming this evening with one of her bridesmaid so I can adjust the fit of the BM's dress.
Nice day-temp is mid 70's, partly sunny with a nice breeze. Rained again last nite which is great for the garden this year. Too early for me to think about food.

Polar, I just love that quilt! Great colors!

Kate, I have a sign that says "the only self-cleaning thing in the house is the cat." Of course, they are great at making messes, too, and for some reason only I am able to clean up after them. Love the "secret ingredient" one, though!

Oh wow Sue I just love that quilt! I miss the cat hair on my quilts since the last kitty of the six I used to have passed away last spring. sigh. Believe it or not, I am still sweeping up cat hair but boy they were worth it. Cats and quilts.......it goes together like lambs and weaving. I am waiting now for the right kitty to come along. I'll know it when I see it.

Today? I actually made it up to the sewing room for the first time in a month to work on a QIP. It had been so long since I sewed on it, I managed to put two pieces on backward, had to take out the stitches and redo it. LOL.

The heat of the summer does buy me quilting in siesta time mid-day, but I'm just wrapping up and cleaning the g'houses from the spring run and going full force in the veggie garden. It shall soon be time to start canning fruit and green beans.

Tuppermom, I'd love to read your handout on displaying quilts at agricultural fairs, as I am hoping to finish my QIP to make it for our county fair. Never exhibited there before and am clueless.

Mardi gras colors! How bold and vibrant!

Kate, Jack looks as soft as Prissy is. She loves laying on fleece, too. Love the neutral quilt.

Tupper, Good luck on your talk tonight and have fun.

Canna, Good idea to sell quilting items at the festival.

Geraldine, How special to have your sisters drop by! I've also seen laundry spoken of as 'Mount Washmore'...LOL Can't beat fresh trout right out of the lake!

Donna, I have to renew my DL this year, too. If you didn't get your last one by mail, I think you can renew online. Otherwise head to the office. Two for proof of address, one proof of SS number and one proof of ID....I think that's all. At least, that's what I found online. I like that sign about the cat being the only self-cleaning thing in the house. LOLOLOL

Sue, Yes, great Mardi Gras colors!! I find the red value finder valuable when placing blocks in scrappy quilts.

Jayne, a wedding in your future....fun, fun, fun. I know about that type of a long day, too. @:)

Calliope, Glad you got into your sewing room. Apparently you've been gone too long. lol Good thing you know how to get back into the groove.

I puttered around this morning, didn't get to the PO and slept the afternoon away. Tomorrow will have to be a go-getter!

The handout I prepared was about Judging Standards at Ontario Fairs and requirements for the district and provincial competitions if you are lucky enough to win Grand Champion at your local fair. Most of our fairs now have websites with the Prize List and rules on it. That would be the best place to start.
    Good luck!
