Anybody make decorative dishtowels?

I want to make some decorative dishtowels to sell and for gifts, but need new ideas! I dont want to use terrycloth because it is too bumpy, but homespun is thin and doesnt absorb much. Altho I do like the looks of the homespun. I also have fabric that I want to decorate the towels with, but other than a band across, not sure how to decorate them.

Does anyone else make these? And can you share ideas and pics please? THANKS!

I used to embroider the flour sack kind.They are stil my favorite dishtowel,as i don't like the terry ones to well.

I remember a loooooong time ago I did do some decorative stitching on some hand towels, but now I like the ones to decorate with other fabric. I found some cute fabric (marshmallows on a stick) at my fav fabric shop, and bought it. Thought it would be cute to add a border to some hand towels for summer. I like to make my DIL gifts like that, and she likes handmade items
I have been searching online for ideas for an easter wreath too to make. But I cant get into anything until the grands go back to school next week.
