One thing I'm particularly pleased with is the area where the crown meets the tin ceiling, and where the two color crowns come together. I was worried about how this would look, but I love it.

There is so much to love in that kitchen that I don't think I can list it all, but for starters, farm sink, faucet, sparkly fun knobs, ceiling (you are right to be delighted by the craftsmanship!), backsplash, bold cabinets colors, granite in next room. What I especially love is the overall feel, which I suppose a shelter mag would call "traditional with a twist" or "new spin on an old classic" or something like that. Enjoy!!!

cabinets are green, kind of a dark forest green color, but i'm thinking that there must be some blue-ish casts in there as well since so many people keep reading them as blue. or maybe it's just the flash on the photos making it look that way.

thanks for the nice comments. appliance installers came back today to install the backguard on my range and level it, so i did the burn-in this afternoon and did my first real cooking on it. i'd made a couple things here and there, but this was the first time i'd done an actual meal in the new kitchen, and it functioned well.

Well, my monitor shows a teal green with a cinnamon/nutmeg cherry island. Whatever the real color, it's all fabulous! I love everything! You've done a great job with the details. Is that Tropical Green on the buffet? My DH and I fell in love with that 4 years ago when we first saw it.

Oh, I just scrolled back up and saw the red mixer and matching red plastic cups ;>)

houseful, yes, that is indeed tropical green granite. it's funny, my wife and i both agreed we didn't want granite with any kind of movement, but when we were looking at honed absolute black against our cabinet door sample, my wife brought over the sample of the verde tropical and we both agreed that it really worked.

oh, and yes, the lovely red plastic cups--a holdover from the temporary kitchen--are in the photos. that cabinet is going to eventually house the microwave and get doors for the front. that's a detail we're still waiting on.

monkeyjac, thanks for your nice comments. i am in fact enjoying the product of sylvia and rocky's hard work right this very minute. quite the luxurious way to spend a sunday morning! they were a splurge, but a bit less of a splurge than i had originally planned. i wanted to go with a plumbed-in professional espresso machine, but due to the problems that i have with the one at work leaking, i opted to go with a simpler unit. far less expensive than plumbing the buffet area and buying a pro unit would've been, although it still feels like a splurge when i pull myself shots!
