installing outdoor lights and recpticles

the driveway side of my house has NO exterior lighting. at night, you cannot even tell the house is there. i want to install a wall sconce light or 2. i have no problem with the wiring, i just need to know what material to buy to mount the light(s).

the problem is the wall is a brick facade. do i just chisel out a rough opening and insert a box? if so, do they make a remodel box to fit, or do i have to secure it to the brick some other way?

i have not figured out yet if i want 1 light between teh garage doors, or one on either side. the difficulty of mounting them may decide that for me. i do have a GOOD hammer drill that will make short work of the wall, but no knowledge of what is required for the hole.

second question, we put up a LOT of christmas lights/other holiday decorations. i was thinging of installing a few recepticles under the soffits of the house so i don't have to keep running 20 or so extension cords. i know these would need to be GFCI protected, but would they require in use covers since they would only be used occassionally?
