I'd go for a good quality 60 tooth blade for most work. The 32 tooth would be better for wetter wood, ie sappy pine or fresh pressure treated. Finish cuts in plywood and laminate might call for the finer blade.

I currently have the Diablo 80 tooth with a 15 degree hook angle.

I was going exchange it for the 60 tooth combination blade, not sure of the book angle on that one... Is not stated on Diablo website. In figured the 60tooth would be a little more versatile for me. Definitely better than the 32 tooth

The answer to this depends completely on what you're cutting. I'd look up Forrest and do whatever they said.

You may need multiple blades depending on what you're cutting. No point in spending big bucks on a blade to chop 2x4's.

I've had good luck with Freud's industrial line of blades (not to be confused with the Diablo line). As HandyMac mentioned you want to use a blade with a negative hook angle. That sounds complicated but all it really means that teeth of the blade are ground in such a way that they won't grab the wood and force the saw to "self feed".

Forrest makes great blades too but they are pretty pricey, especially for the DIYer.

The first couple of projects i have in mind are with 2x4, 2x6, 1x4, 2x10... So i think I'll be Ok there but some of the other projects might need a better blade.

I was reading on another forum that a negative hook angle wasn't really necessary on a sliding compound miter because you push the blade into the wood rather than pull the blade... So I'm a little confused as to what philosophy is right.

We use 80 to 100 tooth 12” compound mitre saw blades and 60 to 80 tooth blades on the table saw.
We purchase from a manufacturer called Ts Tools in Markham Ontario. They have dealers throughout North America. Not a cheap blade but top quality.

For trim work we use 80-100 tooth blades.

What do you guys use more maple crown mitre joints? 100 tooth?
