if you are going to rip out the sheetrock during the reno, then i would wait. it is easier to run stuff with the walls open. plus you never know what you are going to find behind the walls, and you will most likely have to bring the kitchen up to current codes anyway which will require a bunch of new outlets.

Re-modeling requires x-ray vision; ye' gotta' be able to look right through what's there, and see what's gonna' be there. Architect told me that once. Damned if I ever got much good at it, but I do my best.

I design new kitchens with six, 20-amp ckts: 2-ea, small appliance (aka, counter-top), and 1 ea, DW, GD, Hood/MW, and fridge. Lighting I pick up from anywhere, generally another 15-amp ckt. It's over-kill, but what of it.

Question: ye' got gas range and cook-top, so why in the world do you want the 240V circuit? Most folks consider gas cooking a plus.

Lots of work to do, and you can be certain of this: you will encounter surprises along the way. I agree, use your existing panel for "temporary" power until you complete demo. Discover what evil lurks inside them walls. Avoid double work.

Thanks. I guess I'll wait to upgrade the circuit box. 240v would be for an advantium if we go that route. Wall oven and cooktop will still be gas.
