run a feed to a subpanel in the garage.

Thanks for the reply. Would such a feed come straight from the 200 amp main outdoor panel? I figure I would just need one 20 amp breaker for the wall recepticles and one 15 amp for the lights. Is there even such a thing as a 35 amp sub panel?

i would run at least 60 amps out to the garage. you never know what you will want to do out there later, and it is cheaper to put in excess capacity now, than to tear it out and start over later!

You can use any size or amp rating subpanel you want. The minimum I've seen is a 4 slot 40A. The limiting factor will be the disconnect breaker size feeding it from the main panel. You can underfeed any panel but don't overfeed it.
