12V questions...

1. I'm running some 14 gauge, 110V wiring from the side of my house, through underground NMC, to a new, outdoor receptacle in my yard about 30' away. I know how to do this all to Code. However, I also need to run some 12V wiring between these same two points to supply a 20W outdoor light. I intend to run the 12V wire through NMC for protection and got to wondering if there is any reason I couldn't run the low voltage (16 gauge) through the same conduit I'm using for my 14 gauge regular wiring. Any problems with this, Code or otherwise, or will I have to run two pieces of conduit side-by-side?

2. Can anyone recommend a decent, but not very expensive, 12V motion detector that I can use to control my 20W light?

You can put the 12V in the same conduit as long as the wire you are using is rated for 120V as well. Obviously if you use THWN conductors for both you are safe. You do want to make sure that the wiring for both circuits is rated for wet environments.

I've never seen a motion detector for 12V. Usually what people do is use the 120V motion detector to switch the primary of your low voltage transformer.
