1. The neutral (white) incoming power wire connects to the white wire from the light.
2. The hot (black) incoming power wire connects to the white wire that goes to the switches.
3. The black wire from the light connects to the COMMON screw on the switch.
4. The white wire, of the 3-wire cable to the switches, connects to the COMMON screw at the other 3-way switch.
5. The red and black wires, of the 3-wire cable, connect to the TRAVELER terminals on the switches.

Per the latest NEC, each of the switch locations must have a neutral. So it is 4-wire plus ground cable or conduit.
This would apply if this was being installed new today.

NEC2014 relaxed some of the requirements for neutrals at switches. We'd have to know more about the location and access.

Since fewer than half the states have adopted the 2014 code, you'd better check on what your local code is.

Even the 2011 code has relaxations as well (just not as many as 2014).
