The only giclee prints that I have seen have been framed.

"For some reason, I feel they make look unfinished, I guess because there is no frame."

So frame them! I've seen them displayed both framed and unframed. I assume it's the type that is canvas stretched over a wooden or plastic frame or glued to a Masonite-type backing that's bothering you? I've seen them displayed unframed with the intent that the customer will frame them after purchase, just like prints are often displayed mounted but unframed. Personally, I do not always agree with the choice of frame on pre-framed items, so often I would prefer to purchase things unframed. (Besides, I can usually frame them myself much more cheaply.)

Giclees are also printed on paper - it's a particular peeve of mine to see giclees of works that would have originally been on paper or board (smooth surface) printed on canvas, because the texture can do seriously weird things to the image.

They're not usually frame if they are stretched on canvas, but you can have them framed. I have one over a table that I could not find any other way but . . . and I had to have something that size and that color and it fit! Otherwise, I was going to have to commission one or just be SOL.

We bought one not too long ago and I like it specifically because it is *not* framed. Our house is 110+ years old, and we thought the subject of this one was appropriate to the feel of the house and the region in which we live, but the more contemporary unframed presentation keeps it from being too 'period' stuffy (we haven't hung it yet, but it will go in the BR):
