Pink MBR?

Hey all,

Forewarning: this will be way too long and probably much more than you want to read about me and my decorating ponderings! Hoping for a bit of input from like minds. : )

Looking at paint colors for yet-to-be-closed-on new house. We are closing Dec. 17 and refinishing hardwoods. Thinking of getting some painting done at the same time although it would involve picking out colors kind of blind (no stuff in the house yet). However, with 4-year-old twins, getting the paint on the walls BEFORE the kids get in the house sounds like a very good idea.

The Furniture: Back in 2007 I was completely OBSESSED with the MBR in the HGTV Dream Home 2007. Could not afford to go recreate it, but adored the coffee-and-cream color scheme and set about collecting various stuff to make it come together one day.

So, back in 2007, I got the Ethan Allen New Country canopy poster bed in cotton white. Put into a room that I had previously painted Martha Stewart/SW Milk Pail, that trademark blue-green MS color, with white linens. Not my grand scheme, but very nice:

And then I got IKEA Leksvik dressers/bedside tables that I figured I could repaint at some point to match the bed because I can't afford all the matching EA case pieces, maybe someday to replace with EA. Have I painted them yet? NO:

Then we sold that house and moved from Virginia to Seattle. Then we moved again in Seattle. Then we moved again in Seattle. And now, almost 3 years after hatching my scheme and buying the bed, we are back in Virginia and buying a house again.

But I have since acquired a new set of Sferra bed linens in truffle, discontinued so a great deal, perfect for my grand design scheme:

So I have been running around for the last week trying to find the perfect paint to match the truffle linens which I cannot wait to put on my bed when we get our stuff out of storage. Which led me back here (long-time lurker) to get some paint ideas. Which led me to a few different paint stores, and a perfect match for the truffle linens (that would be C2 Rickshaw if you want to know). BUT...

You people also got me to go look at F&B paint which got me thinking crazy thoughts like that my whole truffle-and-ivory scheme might look rather incredible with a browned-down pink like Pink Ground.

1. How on earth do I get DH to sleep in a pink MBR? I am thinking maybe if I tell him it is "peach" I might be able to slide by, he is not the type to care much, but seriously... PINK MBR... I don't know if I can pull it off, especially once all his friends tour the new house and are like, "Dude, nice pink bedroom!"

2. After about 3 years on this quest to pursue my inspiration room, I fear that anything else other than brown walls will be disappointing... then again, maybe my brain is already tired of the inspiration room after fantasizing about it for so long.

3. Matching the linens to the paint means all I will have in the room are truffly brown and cream, so can add in accents of pink OR Martha blue/green OR almost anything else I get the urge to do, on a whim.

I don't know. I kind of want to do it though. PINK! Maybe it is just a few pent-up years of renters' fatigue, I want to paint some walls, baby! A real color!

Oh good grief. I thought I knew how to post pics. Sorry about the IMG URLs. I will try to figure out how to fix!

Found some old pics of the bedroom last time I had it semi "done"... complete with 2-year-old twins busy unloading my sock drawer onto the floor

What about Dutch Pink or something a bit more taupey...the Pink Ground reads pretty pink to me.

No help with the color but I have 4 y/o twin girls and your pictures really took me back! Very cute.

palimpsest, (love the name BTW, read the thread where you explained it awhile back)

Dutch Pink comes off really orange to me, of course I only have the free swatch card which I read here is not very representative, but I would probably look at Setting Plaster before Dutch Pink.

The truffle linen comes off as a cooler color than one would expect... I saw a bunch of pics of Mouse's Back and I thought it would be great, but the color is actually a good bit cooler, but it does seem to have a sort of pinky undertone. A lot of swatches I put up next to it are way too green or gray by comparison.

I just got bitten by the PINK bug today so I have yet to look at other ideas. I am thinking maybe EK Cameo? Or possibly there are some BM colors I might like with it. The whole PINK train got started by putting the linen up against the F&B card and seeing that Charleston Gray or Elephant's Breath might work, but dang, the Pink Ground is kind of fascinating.

There are some interesting pics of it looking not all that shockingly pink, when I google. I'll see if I can post some.

metromom, yeah me too! It had been awhile since I looked at those and it was fun to surf through the memories again. Back then, when they got into things it seemed so cute and precious. Nowadays their destructive skills are much more developed and alarming. Yikes!
