I suggest that you stay away from a floor that resembles wood and try something like this (which is a click laminate).

CORK. Read up on it. It's the best for pets, and it's perfect for messy spaces because it's antimicrobial, water-resistant, and more durable than hardwood. Not to mention, it's budget friendly and eco friendly! And fire-resistant! And I can go on...

PAINT THOSE WALLS. that is A Lot Of Orange Wood. I would do creamy white or a soft robin's egg blue.

remove the fabric hanging over window and do a floor in vinyl in the volcanic ash above. or in a dark wood tone

Laminate flooring has different thicknesses of the top layer. Take note of this when purchasing, as those dog toe nails can easily damage the thinner choices. Select a multi color tone to offer interest, leaning towards the mid darker tones.

If you have a messy puppy - please, please ,please paint the walls a light color! Because that is going to be the only light color you can have in the room. Then you can do the floors in a ceramic color of "dog". And, use furniture the color of dog hair.
Also, use ceiling to floor sheer white curtains to let in more light and help the room appear larger and taller. The art is too high and not coheashive to each other. Go for one huge (at least 42") art piece. Try to get out of your comfort zone- don't use everthing so predictable. Good luck in "breaking out".

Painted panelling is very charming, and you don't have to go too light. I agree that floor in puppy color may seem wonderful for hair, but isn't great when you step on them. I too suggest a cork or marmoleum floor. If you are keeping the oak, you want a natural cork tone near it. I hope you will consider painting, something in a muted spruce green-blue would be sort of classic and work with your existing vintage flavor things . ..I'm not on my good for color monitor- let me get to it and I'll send you some color ideas.

Ruby, I have 4 boxers. slobber and hair all over. BM aura is a winner paint. can be washed and if you retouch years later, has the same color. I would paint, because it is just a lot of wood, the walls and the furniture. feels suffocating, and it shouldn't, because it is a lovely bright room. I like the idea of the floor in dog's colors, God knows I dress in tans and love florals and tweed because it does not show hair.

a desk with on of the wood chairs (about 172 in way fair) a side table for the rocker with spiffy lamp. put the table open with 2 chairs. the floor in a laminate the color of your dog. add and area rug (washable)

This is what it looks like now. She doesn't really shed much, I just want to hide the dirt. And since you can see the room from the front door to make it nice. So I decided tomorrow to paint the walls. Probably a light grey. And to go dark for the floor.

She's so pretty!!!
