Leave the space alone, you can't disguise the area by putting things around it. It looks clean and sleek the way you have it now, sometimes empty space is good on a wall.

I suggest painting the blank electrical plates to match the wall. Then yes, I would add photos and artwork to give this wall the attention that it deserves.

Your room is beautiful (yummy sofas, rug and different colour cushions). I think it is the vent and the two socket-y things that are bugging you... I would paint the two white things and the vent surround the same colour as the wall and then leave it alone and enjoy the view!

You've created a beautiful space. Try painting the two blanking panels and vent cover to match the walls. The eye is drawn to those items on an otherwise perfect wall. Camouflaging these will create one clean area and let your eye wander uninterrupted from the entertainment center below to the exposed pipe on the ceiling.

Some matching contemporary sconces or objects would complete the wall Ann give a more finished look

Leave it blank and paint the vent and panels to match. Not every space needs to be filled.

HI -- When you hang pictures at the proper height , do you worry about the space above ?? No you don't and shouldn't ! The TV is like another picture . Your place is real nice and modern , and modern style most of it is a lower profile . If you want to dress up the TV area ,you could just add a dark stained panel of Walnut or Mahogany on the wall with the grain on the horizontal , for the TV to be mounted on . It will give interest and add some richness and ground the dark of the TV.

What about a floating shelf to display a few favorite books or movies? Throw in some knick knacks and it'll start to look more like a home and less like a hotel room

I come down on the side that says, that if you feel this area above the TV needs something, then do it!

Think about installing a black floating shelf about 6" above the top of the TV and that goes from the window over to the niche' corner or is the same length as the console below the TV. Set a themed series of black and white prints on the shelf. No knick-knacks - just prints in black frames with white matts. The pieces could be all different sizes or all identical. This would tie in your console and look up scale, clean and simple - which seems to be the style you are working with.

The black/white palette is one of the strongest, visually, and it would help to pull this element around the room by adding a black/white pillow or 2 to the sofa.

With the placement of that vent, anything above would have to be off center and probably end up looking quite clunky. If you can paint vent, outlets same color as wall, that should truly be enough.

I agree. I would not put anything above the TV. Instead, consider a Roman Shade treatment over the windows. It will add softness and a higher sight line. The shades can be mounted on the wall and draw up high so as not to block the view. Nice room!

I agree, it seems empty. I think a floating shelf is a good solution. I'd make it same length as the console which will in effect frame the TV. Great rug!

Actually I think the space under the tv is throwing it off. The console is too low for the tv height you have and I think it's much too short as we'll. can you get a taller longer console?

I would lower the TV, and above it, mount an open-back, floating, shelving unit that mimics the shape, and style of the media bench. It would balance, and compliment the height, and shape, of the book shelving on the adjacent wall.

I see that it is a little in need of something, I would paint the vent and wall covers the same color as the wall. I would then install a floating shelf the same width as the unit below the television. You could then display vases and whatnot in front which would hide them but not affect their functionality(The vent)

I would paint the covers to match the wall cover. But dont add anything to the top. Its not a space that you want to attract your eye up to. Great space! Love how you have pulled the space together. Great furnishings!

I wouldnt add any artwork or anything, I would paint your cold air return the same as the wall color. We have also used 3D wall panels on accent walls to create texture, something like this, http://www.mywallart.com/designs and you can mount your tv right over it as you have it now...

You could paint this one wall including the vent & cover a much deeper shade of your wall colour so the TV doesn't stand out so much. I would not put anything above it, you have a lot of display across the room on your shelf unit. If you do put something above, I would lower the TV down to the media stand and only hang art gallery style with the midpoint at 58 inches. Beautiful room!

if you paint the color the wall white (will hide the vent pipes. etc. then create a strip of dark color off the left side of TV that is wide enough to go behind TV 3 inches. this will give visual element. or long birch wood placed leaning vertically. would you share where the cabinet under TV is from? beautiful home!
