Single!! I have a double in cabin and I hate it. Have 36" apron at home and love it.

I agree - having a large single bowl sink was a must for our kitchen Reno. I have never been able to wash large pots comfortably in a double sink.

I really like having a divided sink but split 50/50, but I put wet things in one side to dry when they can't go into the dishwasher like good crystal, silver, and pots. .

You'll hear lots of votes for both, but I am w greenfish, and prefer cleaning one sink drain to two, as well as having the additional basin room when I need it.

One large basin is great- used to have 50/50 and LOVE my new single basin sink!

Personally I find the split sink more useful (for doing dishes) but it depends on your needs

Another vote for large single, and I do all my dishes by hand.

I have a 70/30 and wish most of the time that it was 50/50.

I'm voting for a nice wide, deep single sink. I use one and love it. Have a small dish drainer I can put in one side when needed, can wash the ENTIRE turkey roaster pan in it, as well as e dog, the grand babies, whatever.

Agree with single and go as deep as possible.

What about having a separate drain from the garbage disposal?

70/30 undercount kitchen sink - yes or no

Trying to decide, I cook and hand wash my big pans . My area is 36 inch for sink base . Should I go for 70/30 or single .like the fact I can put my pans in the sink in a single bowl , but I can keep it for drying in second bowl.
Any one help me decide. Looks like not a lot of 70/30 out there anymore . All I see online is 60/40

I love the way the single bowl looks, but decided to go with the one with the split because when I wash my dishes or pots by hand, I like them to sit and dry on the other side....then they are hidden opposed to drying on the counter.

I went with the single after many years of 50/50, 60/40 and 70/30's. Love, love, love the single.

I'm going with a single basin sink--after weighing the great input you all gave me, I talked to my mother-in-law who just re-did her kitchen and happens to wash a lot of dishes by hand and is a super clean freak. She LOVES her single basin sink!!! I think I will love mine, too.

Large Single! My kitchen designer talked me out of a double sink and I'm so glad she did.

I love my single, a Rubbermaind dishpan works when needed.

Karen Dumont - I agree with you. My pots and pans are drying in one half of my sink. I would hate to have a dish rack on the counter top.

I have a 70/30 type split now and if I had a second chance I would get just one basin. I never use the little one and would like more space for washing large pans. Plus with two sinks you have to set the faucet in between so it can reach both basins which means it's not in the middle of either. basin As a result it often doesn't stretch far enough without pulling the sprayer out to reach whatever you are washing.

I too have had split sinks and now have one large stainless sink that looks great but is always dirty since I scrape the dishes into the drain/garbage disposal. I have a rack inside but rinsing the food into the center disposal takes lots of water and then I have to dry it so it doesn't water spot. What I would prefer in our new house is one side being very large and the disposal side being small. I can no longer find my old Franke split sink, sadly.

70/30 for the reason Sandra gives! Garbage in the small one leaves the larger size available. Wish there were more of them.

Single bowl sinks dominate in my sink replacement business; a low divide now and again.

I am doing a 36 inch single in our new kitchen. I fine the dividers to be annoying in rental homes on vacation. For those who like the Double, am I missing something?

I have a solution that I used in our previous house and I'm doing the same thing in our new home. I have the 36" single bowl sink in kitchen, I put in a laundry tub that comes with a build in wash board on one side and also comes with a plastic tub. I've used that tub in my kitchen to wash dishes in soapy water and rinse clean dishes in the rest of the sink. Best of all worlds.
