My goal is to re-work the tables in my sewing area and to clean up a bit. I want to move UFO projects along and pass off those I'll never complete. I'm lucky in that I have a few beginners around here who take whatever I don't want.

I finished the two projects I sent off to a longarmer and posted the one. I'll post the second one today and then that project is done. Then I'll get the BH mystery together and see if I want to finish it for myself - which means making it into a king size - or just wrap it up for a future gift.

I have a few wall quilts sitting here for FMQ to pass the time. I might get started on those soon.

I have three big quilts to quilt and a few smaller ones. Waiting on batting which will arrive next Wed,(hopefully!)
My goal for January.....to get at least one of the full-size quilts completely finished.

Since I only have one project going at a time, it's this Broken Dishes I mentioned recently. I've got the top all together except for the border, which I am paper-string piecing ala Bonnie Hunter style with the leftovers from the top. As for tradition, same thing, black-eyed peas and rice, greens which I harvested out of our garden this morning and corn bread. Oh and always we have to have pickled beets with it. That's it. No dessert.

This month I hope to finish the first three months' lotto blocks and get them sent off to Linda. I will also be working on a Hawaiian layer cake quilt and my paper-pieced Bird of Paradise wallhanging. Since we'll be in Hawaii, I'll be limited to what I can do. Lots of beach walks though.

We have family coming in from out of town this evening and will be exchanging Christmas gifts. My goal for January is to get my new sewing room organized. Currently my sewing room closet is being renovated .... it's ceiling has been floated and taped and mudded and painted with trim work and walls have been caulked, ... it's still needs to be painted and shelves added to it so hoping by mid-January this gets done so I can put away all my quilting stuff which is scattered about in plastic tubs right now all over my sewing room. No real traditions for New Years - just watch some football and relax a bit. Since we are in Arizona, both my Mom and MIL love it if I do the cooking, so, tonight is Chicken Parmesan/ DH & I spent over an hour at the grocery store today stocking up for the next couple weeks!

I agree with Sharon, get 'er done! I am going to help my mom cut several quilts while we are here so she is ready to sew. I have my QS hand-quilt UFO along, so will take it to Mexico to work on. Since Linda & I organized the Block Lotto, I have all my blocks finished for the year, so that is off my plate! When we get back to Colorado in April, I hope to finish some UFOs, but have the itchy fingers to start something new.

No specific goals for Jan., maybe work on a Lotto block or two.
Lots of quilt ideas floating around in my head, just need to pick one and go.
No special New Year's traditions either. DH And I drove two hours to visit DD #2 for the afternoon. Butt sore from four hours of car sitting.

TG/Linda, Always a good feeling to sort through and give away what you know you'll never use or complete. Nice that you have people close-by that appreciates your work.

Rita, I love pickled beets......and pickled eggs, too. DH doesn't so I don't have them very often. Mom used to put the boiled eggs in the pickled beet juice. Pretty and tasty, too!

Sorry about your 'limitations' Lois. sigh.....walking on a beach in Hawaii sounds soooo serene.

My Jan 2015 goal is to complete the Rocky Road to Kansas quilt I have recently posted on. Backing has been selected, prewashed and pieced, making the quilt sandwich today. Hopefully my sleeping kitty cat will behave herself while I do this or I might have a quilt sandwich with a layer of Jasmine! And thanks again to this forum for deciphering the name/pattern of this quilt!!!

I am going to continue to "improve" my sewing room. Don't think it will ever be clean, just improved. Also gonna finish at least 1 UFO a month, including Tim's quilt that I have been working on for 2 years. Almost got the top finished and have till August to get it quilted.

My Goal is to clean up my sewing room & rearrange. I have a very big cutting table that collects all the junk from around the house. If it is missing, look on the cutting table-lol.
I would like to go back to a smaller surface & get it away from the wall, and use the wall for a design wall. This is a huge task, as it involves taking down cabinets also.

I have been purging business records/papers, binders, etc and I have created a huge mess!

First UFO of the year done. Made a simple quilted dog bed from a top that could not be salvaged.

Woohoo, Beverly! That's great that you repurposed your project.

I started a stacked 4 patch quilt last Sunday. It's one of those where you line up repeats of the print so you cut identical squares, then sew them together in kaleidoscope fashion. I'm using a bright seahorse print, so the blocks came out cute! It's a one directional print; I think next time I'll try a more random print for more variety.

Anyway, now I need to cut and sew sashing and setting triangles, so I'll work on that on my long weekend. :) I'll probably do some cross stitch, too.

Hoping my sewing closet will be finished by the end of this week. In the meantime am hand-piecing some blocks (that I already had kitted up) for my Granny Square quilt.

My new sewing closet is now finished, except for letting the paint dry... this is my wonderful birthday present from my hubby .... so this weekend I will be unpacking and organizing my quilting stuff, ... and crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching and books. :-) Will try to upload pics this weekend. Sounds like everyone is at least doing something, and that's a good thing. I'm still working on the Grand Illusion but only have the last round left to put on. Not sure I have enough, but will see what I come up with.

Also, DGD went in hospital Sunday evening to deliver our #7 great-grandbaby. It took til Tuesday at 9:19pm for baby girl to make her 9lb 8oz appearance at 22" long, but she made it and all is well. The girls are winning......5 girls and 2 boys.

I have the last 2 borders to put on the GI Mystery Quilt and then it will probably be put away for awhile.....I'm pretty much tired of looking at it, but wanted to at least get the top completed. I also am working on an I Spy (of sorts) for Mackenzie.

I don't want to turn up the thermostat but might have to. Sitting covered up with a quilt all day is eating into the sewing time. A cyber buddy from DH's forum stopped by yesterday. He was in shorts and I was in sweat pants and sweat shirt. He's from Oregon, so this was nice weather to him. At least there's no snow and it isn't like it's freezing......until tomorrow night. :-)

If any of our members have a 'snow day' hope you can stay inside at the sewing machine and enjoy it.

Well, I haven't gotten back to the cross stitching. I did start a stack & whack top that is about 75% put-together, so maybe I will finish it this weekend.

While I didn't have any specific goals, I did finish up the year's lotto blocks and sent them on to Linda. Certainly saved on postage, more money left for fabric.
And I also made up the string quilt which I posted. Since I still have piles of scraps, strings, and bits, I started making Spider Web blocks a la Bonnie Hunter. I want 20 for a lap quilt and I have 15 finished.
I also want to do a baby quilt for the new grandaughter of a good friend and I am torn between finishing up the SW blocks or starting the new quilt or maybe I could clean the kitchen. Decisions, decisions, decisions.!
But it has been a good quilty month.

I know I am a newbie, but I wanted to share my overwhelming goal for this year. I made a list of all my quilting projects from just cut to needing binding. Well there are 76 if I count the block exchange and 2 BOM's. Yeah, my goal is to finish 1 quilting project per week. Well, it is the end of February and I have meet my goal so far - quilt and or block. I will be going to help my daughter during her last month of pregnancy and I will be so far behind when I return. Argh.

Lily, Congratz on reaching your goal! I think it really does help to list your projects. I did a few years ago and it's amazing, even as slow as I am, how the UFO list has dwindled. I've added a few new ones, but I'm pleased with what I have accomplished. Life will spring up and put you behind, but that's ok, just start in again. I usually post a new thread each month so please feel free to let us know what you were able to accomplish or what you worked on. We're all friendly here and we keep the quilt police locked out. Hope all goes well with your daughter and the birth of your grandbaby.
