In need of vintage style kitchen painting project

We are done with the cabinets, counter top, and hardware (white vinyl windows are on order). Now I need to come up with colors and where to paint.

The counter top is a white and gray granite and cabinets and appliances are bright white. The fridge is not in yet but will be a french door white GE.

There are low 7' soffit's in the kitchen proper. The attached dinette does not have any.

My Kitchenaid mixer is bright red and has to sit on the counter top. I love bright colors but don't want to paint really bright. I also don't care for grey tones but I am afraid that gray is the only color to use. I have tried several samples of BM light gold tones but they don't seem to go with the counter top nicely.

AND, do I paint the soffit's?? I see here that several decorators leave the soffit's white. I kind of like the white as I think it makes them go away.

The dining living room is a deep gold tone although they are not really attached.

Can the kitchen

dinette be a different color than the kitchen proper and what colors go nicely together?

I need suggestions desperately!

You have said how much you like the white. Your kitchen is small and white will never go out of style.

For more of the red to match your mixer, you could do a valance or curtain in a red ticking stripe.

The flooring is not in yet but I do have two samples that I can post close to the cabinets.

I like the idea of keeping the kitchen shell white and just adding color with accessories.

Could add color through a cafe curtain, a wood bowl (to match the floor) filled with oranges, etc.

What a classic and classy renovation. My thought also was white and have the pops of color come from accessories and from a nice fabric roller shade blind over the sink.

Yes, I also have a wood board that will sit on my counter top to help bring the wood flooring upward. What about the color on the walls? Go with a white?

Oh this is pretty! I thought about ticking and like the idea. So should I keep the little dinette attached white also?? Probably should post pictures of the dinette but it is just a small room that is open to the kitchen.

I am still wondering about the dinette and soffits.. Does anyone know or think I should paint the soffits a color and bring that same color into the dinette area?

I would paint the soffits the same as the wall and either decorate them with pretty vintage china or retro plates - either one, just with red in them.

You could add your color by painting the raised area of the ceiling in a glossy blue.

Personally, I'd stick with white. If you do paint, I'd go with the lightest aqua you can find (like these cabinets in BM Bath Salts).

My suggestion would be a soft butter yellow - that will work with the stone and all your colors. But to get something that rich, with yellow, you have to pick something that LOOKS tan on the swatch .. yellow is the most difficult color to select because it is so dependent on the sunlight in your house. But let's try .. .start here with this historic color - paint a posterboard with it, and see what it does in the room . . bm powell buff

They will be lovely with the white appliances, the stone, really add the vintage charm you want and wow will they be great with that floor. Hope this helps, and keep us posted on your progress no matter your choices.

I have the same counters and cabinet colors. My island is deep teal and my backsplash is a sea glass subway tile. I have a red tea kettle and small red flowerpots on my kitchen window sill. Love it.

I like the idea of leaving the walls and soffit white. I'd add retro decor in red, or red and teal. Lovely kitchen! I like your countertop and flooring choices!
