Hi. They had an electrician put in a rope light that was about 1/2" thick and it was the type that had sections that could connect together to form one long strand. Then he hardwired it to a junction box that was controlled by a light switch. Hope This helps. Tim

Thanks Tim. What's the size of the crown and distance between the ceiling and the crown? i.e how much space do I have to maneuver the rope lighting,

This particular crown was the Carolina Pattern from El n El called 424MUL. It is 6 1/2" wide.

I installed the crown 3" down from the ceiling, which seemed to be enough room for the electrician to install the rope and have it dissappear.
