So yes, I now have seen it. I must say that I'm more disappointed about this "commercial" than anything I've ever seen on Houzz before. What makes Houzz so special is not that you can buy stuff or find a pro. You can do that with the yellow pages. What makes Houzz special is the community that helps do that through research, opinions, and yes, absolutely the pros but, my goodness, how can you feel proud of the presentation made about the Houzz "app" that just makes you look like another big box store. I have so often defended this site to people who say it's just a glossy magazine with products to sell. You've just proven them right. *sigh*

Thanks for sharing your opinion whynottryit . I am not sure who you are referring to when you say "you" in your comment. I posted this poll to see what people thought of the promotion on her show and I do appreciate the feedback.

Sorry Mark. I didn't look to see who posted the poll. Of course, I meant the powers that be at Houzz. I should have paid more attention. My assumption that it was a Houzz staff poll had the stereotypical result. :D

After the débâcle on Ellen's furniture design show. I plan on not watching her anymore. Situation handled poorly I think. Love houzz

Saw it but (sorry Ellen) hated the new room makeover. Houzz is classier than depicted in that promotion.

It takes a while to get into the advice portion of Houzz so I think it was a fine introduction. She was quite enthusiastic about the site. I agree the segment was rushed and maybe under prepared, but it worked. Had I not heard of Houzz, I probably would have been inspired to check it out.

I agree, n247080 (btw...where did that name come from?...lol). Underprepared, the "makeover" needed a makeover and none of the unique features of the Houzz site were mentioned. There are a myriad websites that allow you to find products or pros but few that combine all that with "real world" people offering real world advice for free. The fact that there is a vast global community of people who are knowledgeable, willing and available to give of their time and energy to others is what sets Houzz apart from the rest. I'm sorry, nothing in that segment would have had me turning to Houzz for anything. It looked like an old Minnie Pearl sketch to me. All the drunken actress needed was a few price tags hanging out.

Yes, I saw the segment but was't very impressed. However, I can see how it might have gotten the concept of Houzz communicated enough to entice viewers.

I love Ellen...as someone else mentioned, her show can be a good stress reliever.
