Hi,

We are building a new construction and the wall in the kitchen will be tile to the ceiling. I want to have floating shelves instead of upper cabinets. Can the brackets be installed on to the studs before putting up the tile wall? That way the backplate wouldn't show.

Yes - the hangers should be installed before the tile. With installations like this you can order the hangers first then order the shelves second with bracket hole measurements so your shelve holes match up.
