The brick wall is such a lovely feature, but is lost with tv being the focal point. I would try different floor plans even if you have to adjust the location of your dining set. It's hard to recommned a set up without a better feeling of the room. You can go on line and play with 3d room planners to help. If couch doesn't work on the brick wall (with art above), I would add a console table there with a light and art above to highlight the brick. Add an antique rug to ground the sitting area (could add a floor lamp on one side of couch) and add complimentary pillows on the couch. I would definitely paint the kitchen cupboards and change the hardware for a more contemporary look and you could add some barn boards as open shelving to give it a more industrial farmhouse feel.
