ceiling fan question

I installed a ceiling fan 8 years ago. It a Hunter brans and in the kitchen. 95% if the time the fan is off...we just use it for light. There is a switch on each side f the kitchen that can turn it on and off.

I'd say a half dozen times over 8 years, you flip the switch and nothing happens. The light and fan refuse to come one. Its so infrequent I always assume the bulb it out or some pulled the chain and shut the thing permanantly off. Eventually after switching switches up and down and /or pulling the chains it would come on.

It just happened again today. I am pretty sure everything was on - unless someone was monkeying around with the chains. I checked the fuse box...no fuses were blown. By the time I got back upstairs and flipped the light switch again,...It was working.

After the holiday I suppose I could lower the fan and check for a loose wire. Do you think this causing the problem? Is there something in the fan that could be infrequently not working then starting again?

Thoughts.
