My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

New kitchen after house fire

We lost our home in a fire in July 2013 and just moved back in. Here is the kitchen before and now. I really like how it turned out!

Could you share your experience on what all you did to abate smoke and fumes in the house, please?

My wall-sharing condo neighbor burned out his place and before we are allowed to move back in, people are suggesting oxidizing our belongings. It DOES smell and make throats burn. Looking for personal experiences on long-term and short-term effects. (Can anyone suggest other forums? Been hunting here for an hour!) THANK YOU!!

The house was taken down to the foundation. There was really nothing left to retain smoke damage so I couldn't really comment on that. I'm sorry! I seems very complicated with shared walls. Smoke gets into everything!

Fabulouso in water will remove soot from hard surfaces, like dishes and counters. You can order soot sponges on eBay to clean walls or have it done. Prime walls with Kiltz (sp). Your a/c system will need to be cleaned up. If you have good insurance, there are people who specialize in getting it right.
