Trim on 2 or 3 sides for pocket door?

I've looked at a bunch of pictures online but can't figure out the answer. We finished building our house a few months ago but the pocket doors were never trimmed out (my BIL was the carpenter and promised to return...months ago). I'm doing it myself now and am not sure - do I just add the trim where the gaps are, i.e. the pocket side of the door frame and the top of the door frame, or do I also add it on the jamb side of the door frame, thereby adding a split jamb? I'm not sure what would look better - only trimming out 2 sides, or trimming out 3 sides but having a weird split jamb. Please see attached pic.

Seen it both ways but I prefer 3 sides. It makes the door look more like other doors when closed.

I have 2 pocket doors and neither of them have the trim. When open, they look like a plain cased opening.

Like Annie, my pocket door does not have trim on the third side either.

Thanks for the input. I spent what seemed liked a good part of the weekend priming and painting the new trim for 2 sides of each door (times 4 doors), so unless the 2-trimmed door frames look ridiculous I'll likely stick with that. It pains me to think of priming and painting 8 more pieces to trim out the 3rd side (yes, I hate priming and painting that much!).

I had the same question and have been googling and googling trying to find an answer! So pocket doors only need to have trim on the top and the side of the wall it closes into?
