Hi Katrina. I agree with you! We started demo last September and I scoured everywhere looking for pics of white/grey kitchens with black appliances. There were so few. i finally just jumped and decided it would work. I knew I wanted white shaker cabinets and a grey porcelain tile floor to hide dirt but then wavered on my decision to put in plain white subway tile as a black splash. I was afraid it would be too much white but the black/white/grey granite really did the trick. Am so pleased with everything now. I guess I could add more color but my Delft Blue items are really all I want in there. I so hope you will love your new kitchen as much as we do! I wouldn't change a thing...

In answer to Solid Wood Cabinet, my husband and I did design everything ourselves and acted as the General Contractor. We also rewired the entire house ourselves since my sweetie is an electricians helper and his boss oversaw what we did. His boss also hooked us up to the main power. We did all the cleanup, blew in insulation, dug ditches, shored up the undersink cabinet for the cast iron sink, caulked, scrubbed nicotine off the walls for days, made a million trips to the building centers, and painted the walls. We were on the job site every day for 6 months helping with whatever was going on at the moment. But it was all worth it!

This is a wonderful transformation. Can you also let us know the approx costs? Great job!

Approx costs are:
1. Porcelain tile.. Product cost only. Viella 12"x24" Forte Grey and cost $3.29 per sq ft. The invoice is very confusing! Overall, for our kitchen floor, flooring in both bathrooms and our walk-in 3x5 shower in the master, it was $1579. 30 cartons with 8 tiles per carton. Pretty sure that is a sq ft price of $3.29 and a per tile cost of $6.58.
2. Granite ... Includes install price and 2 bathroom vanities of the same granite $2,833
3. Cabinets... Cabinets to go... Product cost only which includes 2 bathroom vanities... $7,670
4. White subway tile ... Product only... Includes a guest bathroom tub surround and this backsplash .. $425
5. Amerock cabinet handles ... Product only.. Includes handles for 2 bathroom vanities ... $297 ... We did our own install.
6. Appliances except refrig ... $2,032
7. Undercabinet plug strips, undercounter lights and canned lights, over-the-sink light and pendant lighting ... $1,062

I am unable to break just the kitchen labor costs out because this was a complete house gut/remodel and we had to replace some sub floor, take down 1/2 of the sheetrock to rewire, new elec panel, add a new laundry room, all new doors and trim, sheetrock and texture, paint, lighting, new master bath, 2 walkin closets, replace all gas pipe, water and sewer lines to the street and in the. house, abate termites, refinish existing oak flooring, put in new hardwood floor in the master, install a new gas fireplace, skylight, etc. The TOTAL remodel cost of all of this for our 1700 sq ft house was right at $90k. Sorry for all the info but we really did start from nothing.

Thank you, grammykris. My husband just finished the last kitchen project which was the corrugated tin under the bar. I hadn't mentioned it before but we're happy with how it turned out. The tin was sitting in the barn so we only had the cost of the edging which was $40.

You did a great job and for a great price. You can be proud.

Great! super! especially about removing the upper cabinet obstructing visual scan.

Hint: Stainless steel appliances would have reflected even more light into the room (whereas black appliances absorb critical light). Overall, super renovation!

love it except for the addition of the metal on the bar. I am in an other generation so it may just be a generational thing. lol. Very pretty kitchen. Love the black appliances and the simple cabinets. Good idea to keep color at a min in such a small space.
