Design completed #1.

For the most part redesign completed. There are a few open areas to
fill. I'll know what to put there when I see it. Kinda of the way I
operate. As far as the redesign it had to be done. Everything was just
getting to big to stay within its borders. I incorporated all four
center islands and three circles into one large center island. Removing
and cleaning 220 bricks with and additional 100 to be added to the
design, that I had in reserve. I dug and relocated 15 conifers into the
new island to balance things out. I also added thirty new cultivars ,
deciduous plants and numerous ground covers plus 60 bags of pea gravel,
35 bags of pond pebbles and 30 large boulders. A couple of photos at
the beginning of the project, quite a few in the remake starting with the 3rd photo, with several overviews at the
completion. The last 5 are overviews of the completed design. I have more photos to give you to complete the series. Pick them up in the below post numbered #2.

Very nice Dave!

What "color" are your rocks? looks like a mix of tan river stone and bluestone? I'm looking for something kind of dark.

Its funny if you shared your before pics as is wouldn't think anything was lacking. However the after photos show a big improvement. Much better with the beds connected. Thanks for sharing.

You mention the 60 bags pea gravel and 35 bags of pebble stones. Do they not have a materials quarry where you could get that in bulk…by the truckload?

Awesome design btw…so in awe.

I buy it by the bulk. It's cheap and convenient to haul and easy to store.

Holy Cow, what a project! I always enjoy your photos, and these are no exception. Just be careful with your beer on the riding mower, there are a lot of curves to manage! I am in awe...did you rent heavy machinery?

The beer and riding mower don't work for me. The heavy machinery...wheel borrow and a shovel plus tools to work mortar mix and brick.

paula...are you sure? If you want to get on this boat it will take you 15 years of hard work to get there.
