Last year, we had our toms in before that last snow/hard freeze, also in WOWs--SE Denver Lowry area. (And for disclosure, would have this year except house hunting and were waiting for results). We threw a frost blanket over the top and they all survived fine. Very minor frost damage off a few top leaves that were peeking out the top.

I am trying to find room inside for 5 totes of toms in gallon pots, plus 5 flats of other hardened seedlings just waiting for planting. I don't think I'll bother with covering my peas--they're 8" tall and should be hardy enough for this system. Cabbage/lettuce in an Agribon tunnel I may throw a blanket over. Will also blanket my blueberry that wintered inside, flowered in Feb and is setting a little fruit now.

Weather this week is crazy! Forecast seems to change by the hour.

I wouldn't worry about the peas.

I am hoping that the prediction of "rain mixed with snow" holds true and that all we get is a bit of slushy rain...ever the optimist. I was also hoping to plant some tomatoes this weekend but with rain - or snow - predicted until sometime next week, I reckon that won't happen - besides, lucky me with clay soil, the ground is already way too wet to be workable. The only things I have up right now are peas, potatoes, lettuce (just barely germinated) and onions; I THINK they will all survive without the need of any protection, unless we get a lot of snow and it gets a lot colder than the 36° F low that is currently predicted for metro-Denver.

Of course, believing what the meteorologists have predicted, especially 5 or more days out, can lead to heartache....

The only folks calling for rain/snow is channel 7, Fox and 9 are just saying rain... who knows? Course, we got a 1' of snow on mother's day last year. I was really hoping to be done with it, but, the weather god's never bother to ask little old me.

I know this is blasphemy, but I really did like Colorado's weather during the drought a lot better.

I don't see snow but I see lows in the 30s and so am holding off planting out rest of peppers and tomatoes, and will trust the WOWs for what is out now. Carrots, onions, shallots etc should be OK with a light cover.
