I like the green. You could go a shade or two lighter for your kitchen if you don't want to repaint your entire house.

Oh yes, the swags are coming down. The picture is actually from the house listing when we bought it, it's not our furniture. We have a chocolate brown leather couch.

Mountain Stream is a little too rich for my blood; I would use it in one of the smaller areas, with a softer version for the rest. Maybe a light gray or cream in the stair hall to lighten it up; it seems rather dark in this pic. Accents of deep reds to give the bricks something to match.

Paint color you show is very dated. Would go to a color like Revere pewter by Benjamin Moore. Carry though to all rooms. Never good to mix color. Makes rooms look disjointed.

I hope also you are taking down window covers. Just awful. Ceiling fan dated also a nice chandelier would work better.

I would also white wash brick. On fireplace. To bring into a more updated look. Easy to do. Google for instructions.

Nancy B, Thanks for the work up. I do like the kitchen a bit darker than the living room and the light color in the hallway.

Yes, Nancy T, all the curtains have come down. We've also updated the fan and the chandelier in the kitchen. We're out in Oklahoma, so we need our fan in the living room! The tv is to the left of the fireplace.
