our house was built in 1962. the original eaves were copper and at the back of the house there was one large downspout that originally must have emptied in a drain that is in the balcony below. Over time this has shifted and was no longer properly aligned causing extensive water damage to the stonework on the balcony and patio below. We had an eavestrough professional come out and he told us that he could cap the spout and re-route it to the side of the house no problem. He came today to do the job and then told us he actually couldn't do this - something about zig zags and angles - and so he said the only option was to have the downspout go across ans straight down. I'm really not happy with this. It may very well be the only option, in which case I'll just have to figure out a way to disguise it but I thought I'd get some opinions and thoughts.
