No shutters. They're not the style for shutters and you don't have room for them on 3 of the 4 windows. Can you enlarge any of them? They look so small - like bath or kitchen windows. Your large home looks like it could handle much larger windows. Any way more French doors could be used where some of the windows are?

You are right. I have always felt they are too small. We built a "modern Florida Cracker house." We have hurricanes here so did not want too much glass exposure. The door glass is the kind that is almost impossible to break and we would cover the windows with plywood if necessary. We can't really enlarge all the windows as the interior of the house was created for certain furniture arrangements.

Consider larger windows with Bermuda shutters for protection against storms. These barn door metal sliding shutters could work too.

I think I'd sooner paint the railing white, put a darker color on the deck. Maybe a plain or louvered frieze would deflect from the window size.

I notice that the trim piece running around the eave of the roof is painted green.

it does not look bad, but it may or may not influence the color of the window and door trim and whatever you decide to do with an exterior window treatment.

these two trim colors are also so much darker than the white trim and the creamy off white color of the exterior walls.

I do agree that the windows need to have a greater presence. the friese should be simple such as a bottom section beneath the window consisting of louvers. I am also wondering if the friese might extend above the windows. I would put the same friese above the front entry. The reason that I say this is that the space above the windows and doors looks too large. I assume that you must have high ceilings.

Bricklin. I love that New Orleans house and I think that frieze would be great on mine.

Kelley, your ideas are great. Yes, we have very high ceilings which I insisted on when we built the house. I love our whole house and how it turned out except for those small windows. The reason for the trim color is because we also have a very large barn which has those colors and we tried to relate one to the other. Our neighbors actually have given us high compliments for it. Now, I do see how they may overpower the color of the house walls. Thanks for pointing that out.

I guess what I would do is lower the fans and get ones that are more decorative . Then You have the right idea by putting the oval art over the door. It is just too small. Get something larger like 2/3 of the width of the doors and a foot to 18 inches tall.

Great idea. I will look for a new outdoor fan that can be lowered. Also, I think you are right about the size of the metal sign over the door.
