I don't have a shark fabric steamer, but I have used a similar machine. I am by no means an expert, but in my experience, machines that rely on water are greatly affected by water quality. I think shark recommends distilled water to prevent mineral build up that can prevent the machine from working properly. So if you have been using tap and you have hard water, you may need to descale your steamer.

Hi - yes I agree. Best to use bottled water in future. I have a Propress MINI steamer and the same applies. Great steamer by the way - very happy with it.
