Throw Pillows for Sofa or None?

Would you put throw pillows on this sofa or not? If you would, what shape/s, size/s and location/s on the sofa will they go? The back cushions and side bolsters that came with the sofa are really throwing me off, and I'm having a difficult time picturing pillow options that exist, if any. Thanks!

I think the smaller pillows might work somewhere else. Try folding a throw and place it neatly under the long one, or just throw it over... :)

Or cover them with fabric that blends in with your nice room.

Yes! get rid of all four of the pillows. You can replace their outer fabric with another style or pattern and use them elsewhere around the house like for lumber support in chairs. Get about 4 large square pillows for the back. Make sure they are full. Because of that, you wont be able to have the two smaller round pillows on the sides cause it would make it look too crowded.

I would also reupholster the whole couch to something a bit on the lighter side.

My opinion. I hope this helps you.

Thanks guys! I didn't think about removing and replacing pillows, just adding. I don't have the budget for reupholstering the entire couch, but I also like the idea of recovering the pillows with a coordinating fabric. Any suggestions for pillow/fabric colors and patterns? Here's a photo of the rest of the living area. I put the small round pillow on the couch before for a little bit of color. Thanks again.

I think this room could do with some flowers here and there, create some vignettes with books, bowls or vases...tables look too bare for me.

I would add some colorful square throw pillows as accents at the ends of the couch. Go for a fairly small size since the sofa lines are delicate. I would keep the rest as is. The room looks lovely!

Your area rug is beautiful & is placed where it should be and the size it should be. The only other comments I could make would be the addition of simple linen panels hung from metal clips loosely placed between the transom & the main windows. Not very full & left open.

I would leave the sofa as is! As suggested above, all you need is a throw and some accessories that match the throw. A little here and there around the room. ie: candy dish, vase.

You did a great job with the room. Don't put printed pillows on the sofa. The pillows on the chairs is all you need.

No thought to me that you'd need to touch your sofa itself, no. But when you added the center pillow [I can't see it], how'd that go? Here 's crewel:

Arts & crafts decor is minimal, natural, comfortable. No extras, no clutter. Just simple & this is what you have done to perfection.

Thank you again everyone, and I appreciate the compliments on the room. My husband and I definitely gravitate toward minimal fuss and extras (less to dust), and adore the the arts & crafts and Greene & Greene aesthetics. I'm glad sandradclark picked up on that. The existing pillows are very comfortable, so I am more inclined to keep them. I will try the throw idea, if I find the right throw. Maybe something with golds, greens, blues, and/or gray?

Super cute Scandia bird pillow everdebz. The little round pillow in the center I tried looked okay, but I didn't know if I was overlooking better options. I'll also play around with putting some extra square pillow/s I have on the couch and see...

    You guys are awesome!

Yes for grounding and colour...rich, texture, tealy with lamp green tones and deep brown/black accents or what ever makes you happy!!!

Looking at it today the rooms are gorgeous but it looks almost too sedate...I was wondering about reupholstering the bolsters and back cushions in something like my previous comments but be careful not to get too load or kitchy.

You don't want it to upstage the rest of the rooms or throw things off balance but maybe mid to darker values in colour in rich hues (some suggested above) and more traditional to the period. I'd lean towards a more organic pattern but that may not suit your sensibilities.

Going back to your first comment, I think some of us responded cause you said yours were 'throwing [you] off' - how long have you had couch? and how are pillows/ room a problem? Are your pendants at all green, or amber?

I've actually had the couch for over 5 years, but it used to be in a separate front room in our previous house that we hardly used. When it was there, I left it with no additional pillows outside of the tone-on-tone ones it came with and didn't mind since I rarely saw or used it. After moving to our current home and seeing all these photos on Houzz of beautiful living rooms with colorful pillows (it's also a common recommended decor in a lot of the Design Dilemma posts), I started wondering if I'm missing out on an opportunity to improve on the appearance of the couch. We were having no problems with comfort though.

Regarding our pendants, they are iridescent gold or gold/blue (similar Tiffany favrile glass).

Aside from buying pillows for experiment/ return, maybe placing fabric of your closets' shirts, towels would narrow it down...with Tony's on I don't mind browsing. Whether or not truly is, the description says craftsman style [other colors too]:
