Microwave over the stove - yes or no?

Does anyone have either good or bad experience with a microwave/fan combination over the stove? I'm trying to free up counter space and wondered about this solution.

Any feedback is welcomed.

yes! it's so convenient as long as the appliances match it looks great

My mom has one. She cannot use it anymore because she can no longer lift dishes that high and I have concerns about when I use it - I have to watch out I don't lean my blouse into a burner that is on. I am short and have to stand on a stool to clean mine which is on a shelf same hight as over the stove. I also have difficulty getting anything heavy in and out. I told my 17 year old daughter - who is also short - that I am moving the microwave down to the counter and she was very happy about that.

I put mine up for the same reason - needed count space, but since then I have added an island and now how plenty of room.

On a Parade Home tour, I saw some kitchens with the microwave in the pantry - an idea, if you have one.

It is inconvenient if two people are working in kitchen, with one using cooktop and the other wants to open microwave.I would find another way to get it off of counter.

If you have kids they won't be able to use microwave until they are driving...smile.

I have a microwave over the range. I am not a fan. The vent fan combo is not as powerful as a true vent hood. When I am boiling water, the steam condenses all over the microwave, and sometimes overheats the microwave. It is not ideal.

I would rather have it over the stove than have it on my countertop.

Now cabinets have cool places to hide them but little ones can reach them which is dangerous so over the stove unless you don't have kids.
