Help! Second guessing my grout color choice...

Okay saturday night Houzzers: Now that my "sand dollar" handmade tiles are in, it is looking a little darker and more monochromatic than I expected. My original grout selection was "mobe pearl", which is a warm, light gray (a sliver of it is stuck in the grout line of the first pic). Would white grout brighten it up a bit? I am a little concerned about it getting dingy, as well as how it would look with an off-white tile.

As you can see from the second pic, we have high ceilings with white walls, so it isn't a dark kitchen by any means. My intention was subtle contrast (one shade darker) and tying the grayish grout with the grays in the quartz, but perhaps I should go lighter instead?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! They are coming back to grout Monday a.m. And I need to get to the tile store tomorrow if I'm going to exchange. Thanks in advance!

I think your instincts are right and the shown grout will be blah and not really add anything to the space. I’d go white, or if you’re willing to take a risk, a medium to dark cool gray which will contrast nicely and would be reminiscent of your dark pewter hardware.

From your pics I don't think the gray in countertops jumps out at me, they seem warmer, more creamy. I don't know that I would use a gray grout from what I'm seeing, possibly something closer in tone to the tile and warmer. Again, this is just what I see from the pics.

The cabinets look almost green to me and the color of the tile does not complement them. A white or off white would brighten up the area.

The color grout you have will cause the tiles to all run together. A lighter or darker grout will make it to where they're distinct.

I would go with a darker grout like adalisa frazzini suggested to add a touch of drama to your backsplash.

I would go with white grout. It will tie in with your appliances, contrast with the tile color and add a lighter, almost "coastal" feel.

I agree with all who said white. Cleaner looking and never looks dated.

Thank you all so much for your comments--I sincerely appreciate it. Sometimes all these decisions can get to a girl! We decided to go with a white grout (not the brightest white, but quite white). Looking forward to the project being OVER! Thanks again.

Please post a picture when it's completed! I'd love to see how it turns out! I will soon be picking grout for my kitchen backsplash. My tile appears to be the size of yours and my color is taupe. My cabinets are white with a gray glaze.

Hi Judi, good luck with your project! Our tile is 3x6 handmade ceramic in a sandy color. We went with "White" grout by Bostik (vs. "Bright White"), and are happy with the results. Our counter is Cambria Windemere and our cabinet color is a super pale green.

Ultimately, I would prefer a little more contrast between the cabinet and backsplash color. But it is growing on me, and I'm sure I'll be glad in the future that it is all on the neutral side.

Thanks again to everyone who provided feedback. It was very helpful. Now I just need to keep those counters clear and get remove all the junk from the fridge. :)
