I think that they generally come with a template showing where they should be installed.

I agree they should be at the edges of the drawers, but I think you're going to have to live with it.

You could see if a cabinet maker could fill the holes with wood putty and match the paint/stain but if he didn't get it right, it would look worse than it does.

You could also see if you could just order the front of those drawers and replace them so you can have the handles put where you want them.

Thank you everyone for your input. I asked my husband about getting new drawer fronts but thought it would be too pricey. Will look into. It is such a small thing but very bothersome.

Personally, I rather like them the way he positioned them. This could be one of those mistakes that just work out;)

The positioning is proportionate to the drawer size.

They are positioned correctly for the size and scale of the drawers. Live with it and see if you notice it a year from now.

Are the pulls Chareau by Top Knob? We just put those on our black island. I think the placement looks nice. It is so hard when a contractor makes an important choice for you! Hope it works out.

I think it looks right. BUT, I know little things can be a big irritant. It drove me crazy having my dining room light off-center for the table, so I had a workman come in and put it in the right place. It was a small thing, but I am happy I did it. I think you'll have an issue with the holes if you re-drill and move them because you really can't ever totally cover the holes without being able to notice them. I'd leave them alone and see if you are OK with them down the road. If not, you could re-do them later.

my contractor did that on the kitchen of my vacation home. BUGS THE HECK OUT OF ME. but short of reordering the drawer fronts there was no way out. i love my contractor (still) but i'd love him more if he'd admit he was wrong, dammit. lol.

I am with you on not re-ordering drawer fronts, I already see other things I'd like to fix or improve in my kitchen. I wish I hired a designer to review my choices b/c it is hard to envision if it will all come together looking great.

I do think that normally they wouldn't be so close to the center BUT i think this looks very modern and much more interesting.

Everything looks well centred and well spaced. It may not be what you "wish" but it certainly looks very handsome, functional and no one will ever know it isn't what you "wished for".

Some battles are worth fighting...others are quickly forgotten. I bet in 1 year, you won't even remember this was an issue.

Yes I hear you. My level of being upset has already subsided and thanks to all of you. But now I have a backsplash challenge, shall see once lights are installed and deal with it then. Thanks again, this site is such a great sharing place.

If this was done on one of my projects, I would replace the fronts for no cost for the client. The contractor should take some responsibility in this. I think they should be placed an inch or 2 closer to the outside of the drawer faces. It is a couple hundred dollar mistake. Be kind, but be insistent. If it really bothers you, it needs to be changed. Maybe the contractor will split the cost with you...

If they were darker, as in oil rubbed bronze, they wouldn't be so noticeable. Or maybe replace with one longer pull instead of two short ones?

Spend the money on new drawer fronts and only have one pull per drawer.

I agree with Beverly that one pull per drawer would be ideal. If replacing the fronts isn't an option, I think maybe you could see about one long pull on each drawer? The problem is that only works if that collection comes with long pulls and you can get 2 of the holes to line up so you only have to cover the 2 innermost holes. Highly unlikely to find that...

If you end up sticking with what you have, I really don't think it's a big deal. After awhile you won't notice it so much. And I really don't think it will stick out to guests like it does to you.

there is a line of wide pulls that are adjustable, i remember seeing them last year when i was shopping for our pulls for our kitchen.

I'll bet you could get those drawer front replaced for under $300. Then go for only one 6" pull. It's worth it. You don't need two. Especially in that color. I'm having my kitchen installed as we speak, er, I mean write, and I was very specific about the location of the pulls and knobs. I have TobKnobs too, and they generally come in 4" and 6"
