Lemon Tree oops

I bought an awesome, "2-3 year old" meyer lemon tree off amazon (couldn't find in stores) and it got here May 1st. It's a little over 3' from soil to top leaf. And then I promptly messed up and put in one of those fertilizing stakes (http://amzn.com/B000JJYPYE) that are meant to go 10' from a tree into the 14" diameter pot. And it fell apart before I was able to pull it back out.

My lemon tree actually still seems to be growing, though I don't have any blossoms. I have thorns so I figure it's still pretty young. Anyways, should I re-pot? I'm worried my roots are just slowly getting acid burns. Is there a downside to re-potting so soon?

Thank you for your time!
