Why do you want to remove the bar. Is there no room for an extended table with it there?

Just get the table.

Removing the bar is a project as you'll probably need new counters. And backing up a sideboard to it will look odd anyway given the angle. There's a reason for the bar to be there.

I think she means the actual separate bar, not the angled peninsula.

Your kitchen is very pretty! I would get a dark wood table with white parson chairs (the color of your bar stools). The white against the dark brown always looks elegant.

I'd get rid of the bar. Without seeing the rest of the room it looks kind of heavy and dark. I like the side board idea or full china cabinet. I would find a painted one. Blue or creamy white. I agree with attyhur about the table and chairs.

Sorry! I should be more clear. We want to remove the china cabinet/bar type think that is separate from the kitchen. It's on an angled wall that does take up a lot of space for the table. I also have a 2 year old and 10 month old and need a table that will take a lot of abuse in the next few years. We are thinking something rustic woodish to hide the scratches and scuffs that are coming. Thank you for the feedback thus far!

Thank you for clearing that up. Head wasn't wrapping around the large china cabinet as a "bar".

This beautiful set and you could get slip covers for a couple of the chairs the kids will be using to protect them. The top is metal so will take the pain.
