I think the chair is throwing it off...too short..I would put a more narrow, taller chair if I were to use a chair. Maybe a wider, console-type table and no chair?

If its an entrance foyer, maybe a dish or a basket to through keys, wallets etc upon entry.

The gap between the chest and mirror could be bridged by a stack of decorative boxes or any collection of objects to connect the two elements visually. The lamp is too tall and spindly to make sense on such substantial pieces. Try some boxes or containers like these photos from Pottery Barn

I also think an area rug that is lighter than the floor and chest will provide the contrast needed to show your furnishings off to their best advantage.

I love the style of the chair, but what about recovering in a geometric that pulls in or contrasts the wall color for some "pop"? Then you could accessorize the chest with some of that color - a row of books for example (cover them using some wrapping papers that use the chair color) and/or the same for the lamp shade. Just a thought.

I like the idea of what you are doing but you have a lot of dark wood. Add a pop of yellow to the chest since you have the yellow pillow on the chair. Also you need to move the chest over some towards the chair. I suggest a round or oval mirror because you have lots of straight lines in the stairs, chest, mirror and chair. I also agree with adding a light rug to the area to brighten up. I've attached an image of a more modern look but it shows you the color that can be added to a dark wood! Good luck!

Your table is pretty and you have a good foundation to start with. Now you just need a few more accents and you are good. Create visual interest by varying heights of your items. Maybe place 2 or 3 books under the fleur de lis and add a plant, a photograph or small piece of framed art. Also an odd number of items is aesthetically pleasing. to the eye. A pretty footed bowl or decorative plate makes for a good landing place for keys and pocket change.

Longer console, much fatter lamp, no chair. Put lamp on right side of console, and bigger mirror or artwork over.....

Personalize it with a picture frame! I think you should add a few meaningful things to the chest.
