I like drapes to have hidden back tabs. Makes them fall in great folds.

I think you're fabric is very nice although quite different from your inspiration drapes. That being said it goes very well with your great looking kitchen. Hard to tell from the picture how you want these drapes to function. The inspiration drapes are beautiful pleated drapes that provide full coverage. Is that what you want? How long are these going to be? What type of rod do you want? Beautifully made drapes are always in style.

Hi magsmayers, also, the drapes you love are lined and will save your fabric from fading and give you that lovely draping quality! One of your biggest expense after the fabric will be that iron rod and rings. Those are special order but worth it because those drapes are heavy. The fabricator should be able to order them for you. Be sure you bring them pictures of what you want. Take precise measurements or better yet have them come to your house to measure. Have them draw a diagram so you know how they will look. I like to take a picture of the window, print it and draw what I want with the measures on it for the workroom so there is no confusion. Good luck

The trellis pattern would be my pick ,for the style sewing a couple panels and using a rod pocket would be the easiest way to make these or use rings just like the first photo just clamp on and your done .Spend a little more on the rod instead ,the rods are the jewelry .

As said, you need to gather your fabric (tightly), and see how you like it. Your sample looks like it will be quite different from your inspiration picture. The inspiration drapes look like a totally different fabric with a polished cotton sheen. Your sample looks like a heavy tapestry that will not have the same effect.

I agree with alicejean. If the fabric you have chosen is heavy the draperies will not give the look of your inspiration photo. Pinch pleats are lovely and would be appropriate. The pattern will be lost in the folds and may read only navy when they are open.

I actually love your fabric choice, if you are unsure order a yard (will be 54"goods). Should be enough for you to get an idea of how it will look pleated. It is a big investment so you should be sure. Any fabric with a design will look abut different when pleated, but as you can see from your inspiration picture that is the beauty of it!

Oh, and I have actually seen this fabric before, it is a fairly lightweight cotton blend and would make up beautifully for drapes.

If that fabric is dry clean only ,try to find one that you can wash instead ,for the kitchen especially .

Remember, lined drapes can be heavy. We had ours done and put up by a designer, but the rod had too much stress on it, and worked its way out of the wall.

OMG, please don't wash custom draperies, especially when they are lined. I was told by my drapery fabricator and installer to use a soft brush attachment of the vacuum for cleaning.
I agree your inspiration photo has beautiful wrought iron rods, that make the whole look. A drapery fabricator can help you get the look you want.

So true sandyC, no washing these! Light vacuum or shaking out. Installation is key though. This is not really something you want to tackle unless you've done it before. Let the pro's do it for you, then if you have a problem they can come back and fix it!

You know, looking at your inspiration photo...those look very close to some drapes I purchased online from World Market for our bedroom. Check them out. They have different lengths. The key is having a great rod and full drapes. Maybe save some money, just buy a couple of sets for fullness.

Thank you everyone so much for all the helpful advice! I ordered a larger sample from the fabric store so I can get a better sense of the pattern and how it will look scrunched together as a drape. As for the trellis-patterned sample lying on my counter, it's actually quite a bit heavier than my first pick, and I worried that the weight combined with all the navy in the pattern would make for too heavy of a look. On a side-note, I apologize for the mess in the background in these pictures-- we just moved in, and I have a very busy toddler on the loose:) Thank you again, you've all been so helpful!
