Okay! What color curtains do you think? I'm so clueless.

Get a rug first. Wall color and window treatment colors should come from rug. Then panels on each end of window from ceiling to floor. I would say stay away from grays I don't think it goes well with oak. What you have hung on the walls now is too high.

If you do a rug, it should be 4' wider and longer than the table to allow the chairs to be sat in without falling off the edges of it. That may dig into the budget. Such a grand table requires a chandelier, but keep it in the country vein. How about painting one of the large wall pieces and the chairs to break up all the uniformity?

What is the rule of thump for hanging things? I seem to hang too high a lot :(

Great find. Agree with comments on area rug & floor to ceiling drapes (get after rug). Also like dressing the table with a long runner & a bowl

I would consider a striped flat rug for the area in either the cornflower (my recommendatin) or aqua, an oval drum shade chandelier with bronze trim for over the table and matching draperies. I moved the star down on the wall.

The photo makes it look like the table isn't centered with the large window. That should happen. Will look more impressive that way. Or is it just the photo angle?

kathryndvs1 I simply use PAINT that I believe comes with MS Office/Windows. It's trial and error because there are no instructions. Right click on a jpeg and click EDIT. On my computer it opens in PAINT. Then use the tools on the top to add colors. Use the "eye dropper" to get a color to match a color in your jpeg.
