We just bought a new rug and not sure if it really fits in our living
room..Also we need a new ottoman/coffee table. Any suggestions? I like a
young fresh look

My first impression is that the rug, though beautiful, seems more traditional than your intent. Hard to see the room or the colors, Could you take the picture standing in front of the sliding door, or with the drapery closed so we can see the actual colors in the room?

    Hi,

Sure, once home I will take more pics. The sofa is a caramel beige, the rug is off white/ beige, white tv stand, curtains are teal

I think the rug is spot on. A large rectangular ottoman with a tray on it will let you stretch your legs up and out and offer a place to put a drink down! Win win!

What color ottoman do you think?

The rug is beautiful but it looks like you have carpet already, are you removing it? The rug should be wider than your sectional, cannot really tell from the angle of the picture.

There is carpet in the apartment, since it is a rental, I cannot remove it yet. The rug is indeed smaller and doesn't go under the tv stand

Rugs often look weird to me when placed over plush carpet. However, you can mitigate that by using a larger rug that fits under all of your furniture, leaving the gap near the wall where the transition is less obvious.

That's a pretty good size rug and yes in a perfect world I would never put carpet on carpet, but this works for me! Enjoy your apartment and keep us updated. Smile.

I'm not a fan of this rug. I would go with something that has the geometric oattern in black. The rug looks like beige carpet on beige carpet.

Both. It would be young and fresh!

    I like this idea too

Judging from your choice of art work and pendant lamp…………..It seems that the raised scrolled area rug is way toooooo traditional for this room. It is pattern on pattern, that is the the shag of the carpeting with the raised scrollwork of the area rug. I would be inclined to lay down a sisal area rug with black border in the same size of something that is low pile rather than high pile. The sisal would throw in a totally different texture and would be a more modern yet sophisticated approach.

The wall color looks too yellowish from the pictures…………….I would try to go more neutral or any shade of white.

And yes, throw in a large square upholstered ottoman for a coffee table in the suggested blue shade to match the drapery or in a black leather and perhaps add some more blue accents to the room by way of accessories.

You need a bigger, more important planter.

The pendant lamp is nice, but seems to be getting lost amidst the artwork, area rug and other accessories. Maybe you could switch that out for a white drum shade pendant with some interesting design detail. These drum shade pendants look fabulous and also come in a wide variety of looks. Are those cow hide pillows?

Rug is not what I would consider young or hip.

Maybe try a white faux fur rug.

I am changing the rug and thinking of putting a distressed aluminum trunk...what you guys think?
