you could go to a glass company - possibly any style... frosted, rain glass, narrow reed. and stop in the glass with 1 x materials... this is called a re-lite.

If you can't dry wall then I would suggest shutters. I also agree you should not do two completely different colors above and below the chair rail. Either paint the trim in the middle the lower color or use The same color above and below.

What kind of shutters were you thinking

I have a similar design in my home. You did NOT make a mistake! I have glass between my 3 spaces (all in a row though) and a French door to the entry. This room has a multitude of uses! I used drapes on the windows which are the same as the adjoining room for privacy. The semi enclosed room appears to have a bump-out on the right which can be easily enclosed as a closet (for bedroom). It can also be used as a game room by using the same bump-out for a dry bar and storage above and below, a pool table, etc. how lovely to have such a great space!

I am planing to change this into a guest room. Currently this is a game room which is in the basement.

If I was going to be a guest I'd feel most comfortable with walls. I suggest putting up walls over shutters or glass.

Yes there are studs within each section which makes it easy to close off. Drywall will fit fine and use that bump out as a closet. Add a door and viola....bedroom!

At least close up the "window" on the drop ceiling side. French doors in the doorway and shutters closing off the windows flanking the door.

I was thinking shutters that are are on hinges that you can open/close if you want to close the space off for privacy. Or, you could open it up if you wanted to convert back to game room/office.

Soft Roman shades would do the trick too if you're looking for temporary privacy.

saj1...those shutters would work...IF you can get them in the size you want. That is difficult to find!
