Hi! I don't usually comment but your question really made me laugh- I was just wondering the same thing! Our house feels super small, esp. with winter stuff jammed in the closets. So, my answer is redoing closets and basement. However, I'm trying not to look at them and to enjoy the last 2 weeks before my kids turn into school zombies! Thanks for asking, what about you?

Clothing. With four kids it is essential to review the stuff that is too small or is in upper shelves, because it was too big for some of them. It takes some time to review all the stuff we have and rearrange all. Kids usually take the first at hand things, so I try to arrange wise.

I will be tackling my 11 year old daughters room. It gets clutter easily with her stuff, so looking for a way to de- clutter, but to make specific spaces for her to play, study and sleep. But similar to above, need to enjoy last two weeks of summer before I start this project.

My kids went back to school last week. I am painting the front room, entryway, and front door. I have finished the walls and trim in the front room and have replaced the shade on the pendant and sideboard lamps. I have set up a small dining table as a desk with two work stations and are using knock off Eames chairs as desk chairs. I still need to hang a mirror and my organizations stuff and buy fabric to slipcover a chair.

We're retired too, but the project we need to get done that we've been talking about all summer is staining and protecting our deck before winter comes. Maybe this weekend......

We homeschool, so I don't actually get rid of them come fall. But tackling the clothes and closets is a good one for every parent. I just redecorated my 12yo daughter's room, so that might be it for a while. Although we have some leftover paint from that project that I'm thinking of re-painting our front door with.... :-)

Unpacking!

I am retired but a GM living with the kiddos. I hope to finish unpacking and clean my closet so my new IKEA PAX system can be installed!

I'm going to update one of 4 bathrooms in the hopes of making it look lighter and brighter, while reducing our water useage. It's the guest powder room and I'm setting the goal to have it finished by Thanksgiving. Biggest challenge - to find a contractor who's smart, creative and will take on a job of this small a scale.

Mine are in university, so all the coming and going and shoes, clutter, food friends and fun are adult sized. I plan to redo the entrance from front steps to deck and inside entryway porch. The cracked vinyl tile in the entryway that I'm sure has layer upon layer- fresh tile till give it a huge lift!

Front yard landscaping. Back in June I had a landscape architect draw up plans & not only has it been too hot but 5yo daughter needed attention. School starts in 6 days & cooler weather is approaching.

We are moving in November [not the greatest time to move with 3 school aged kids but very exciting] so I need to purge, pack, move and decorate my new home with some existing furniture and some that will be given to us! [furniture shown is not mine]

I love this photo at the top with the multicolored pouf! How can I find one like that :)?

I will be hauling all furniture out and cleaning floors and baseboards and windows and blinds!

I have a lovely finished basement with 2 bedrooms and an entertainment room with an ensuite bathroom. My son has had one of the bedrooms in my basement for the last 8 years and had full reign of the basement. He's off to university this september, so I'm going to take over the entertainment room and make myself a master bedroom with ensuite, My tiny bedroom on the main floor will be converted to an office for my husband.. The 2nd bedroom in the basement will be for my daughter and her bedroom on the main floor will become a formal dining room. All the living on the main floor and all the bedrooms and laundry on the lower floor..

Painting walls in at least three rooms.

When my children went back to school, I would clean out the cupboard in the bathroom. I could manage to clean out the make-up without having 2 girls going through the trash and trying to put it on themselves.

I will start with a mimosa at the bus stop! ;) I did start a bunch of projects this summer. 1000 foot addition and reno of my home. I put in a pool and I am currently landscaping it. My daughter has become quite the pro with tiles and lighting. We shop together and I always add something fun in like a pedicure or a new shirt for the new school year. She has pretty refined taste for an 8 year old

I'm painting two ceilings and one room after they go to school. I get waay to much help if they are home and they are still too small to actually help instead of hinder.

constanceleblanc, be careful removing multiple layers of linoleum. Our 1978 home had 3 layers of lino in the kitchen and after a water leak required removal, low and behold the bottom layer had asbestos. It had to be removed by "the authorities". There were other areas that had been removed previously by the unprotected, but where they disposed of it? Just a beware.

An ice cold IPA and a workout of the lazyboy for me!

Maybe I'll get to work organizing the library after that.
