White Brick Wall - Yes or No?

Dear fellow Houzzers -

I am in the process of designing a trendy and modern room, and currently debating if a white brick feature wall would be practical. I have asked my architect, and he says the it is difficult to clean, for dust gets stuck in between the crevices.

Does anyone have an opinion on this matter? How much do they usually cost?

I love the minimalist look of a white brick wall, and hope I can add it in for a special feature for a bedroom.

Yes, Yes, Yes. I painted my fireplace brick white, it looks fantastic. It is not hard to keep clean. Run a swiffer over it occasionally.

Wonderful room I think keeping it white will have a fresh look to the room plus it would be a nice contrast to the other darker walls .

Ohhhhh WHITE! Look definitely trendy and crispy! You can use vacuum cleaner with small brush ( as for furniture) to clean dust.

Thank you all for your lovely feedback! Can you just buy white brick walls in stock? Or do you usually have to spray paint/paint them white manually?

That is stunning, but for the cost I would put it else where. Is this your forever house? Considerations. I have moved many times. I try to put my money in renovating in a sensible manner.

@smh225 Thank you so much for sharing your personal experience - if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost to put in the brick wall? If it IS a hefty amount, I might re-consider.

it was here when we bought the house. It was red brick, when I walked through the house for the first showing I knew it was destined to be white.

I painted mine, it was easy. Use semi gloss or something that it easier to clean that a flat finish.

White brick goes well with grey walls. It looks very clean and whenever you are tired of cleaning the crevices you'll paint it again. Bricks are not supposed to live with you. ıf you think that way you can nevere wear a nice white gown, never own a white carpet etc:)
