The finish on most well-made painted cabinets is set with a catalyst in the process .. which gives them durability. What you will notice, and will likely sign a disclosure stating, is the inside panel and at any areas of joinery, they will expand/contract resulting in slight cracking along these joints. This depends mostly on your climate zone and not on how you use them. The first year will be their settling time; and cracks that appear can be easily covered with a paint pen which will be available from the manufacturer. Painted cabinets have a significant up charge, don't look for the cheapest option or you won't get the most durable finish.
