Thanks! After looking online, I was thinking about spray-painting the metal a dark color and then using a pewter metallic wax called Rub 'n' Buff... Would love more feedback so I don't mess this up :)

Kat did you end up doing this? I was just looking into the pewter rub n buff for a light fixture that was also sold as "antique silver" and came out very gold. How did it turn out?

No, I was having the hardest time finding a mirror with the right frame color for my powder room so this was something I was considering but I lucked out and found a mirror that I love as is (Henry Mirror from Birch Lane). I would like to try rub n buff out on smaller surface like a photo frame though...was it easy to apply? I think Amazon sells the pewter color.

I will let you know after I attempt it. We built new construction and the lights were installed before I could see them so it's try and modify or replace unfortunately. Most of the reviews online say it's pretty easy. I'll post some before and afters once we are in! Thanks for feedback.

Rub n buff is easy and quick and pewter is a nice color. You could possibly apply it right over the mirror. Then rub it in. Be prepared with some mineral spirits to clean your fingers afterwards.

I've been recommending rub n buff on Houzz a couple of times but I'm certainly not an expert. I bought a sample package on Amazon recently but it didn't include the pewter. I learned about it on Pinterest. There is a woman on Pinterest who is an expert and she has several tutorials. She even uses it on large pieces of furniture. I don't know her name but I think you can just look up Rub n Buff and browse until you find her. I just bought a tube at Michael's for about $4. They recommend using your fingers to apply. I played around with it right after a manicure but it came off pretty easily with soap and water. Let us all know how you like it.
