Drum shade

I just bought this drum shade on line and didn't realise that was all I got. I had it wired but it looks a little low to me. My ceilings are 8'. Someone tall could probably look down into it. Is there a standard distance from ceiling or table it should be?

Also where can I get a diffuser that will fit and not be too expensive?

I also think that shade is too large compared to the table. Can you exchange it?

The drum shade that comes with the diffuser is from Crate and Barrel and it is complete.

Usually the light should be hung about 36" from table top. (i also think it may be too large, sorry). Be sure to use LED light in whatever you go with.

I would send it back. It's too large, and it doesn't go with the rest of the room.

I think it's a little large too, but it's still better than what I had, and no I can't return it. I planed to change other things in the room too, like the curtains. Notice how short they are?

Then center it and raise it. Go a little higher than recommended since it's so large.

Thank you so much for the comments and suggestions! I often got the less expensive route because I have to and am sorry later. I will hang it higher, maybe 38-40"?

The curtains are short for a reason -- note the vent. You could go shorter but longer is not really a good option.

In the alternative, you could have short sheers between long drapes that are never pulled closed to cover the vent.

As another alternative, consider interior louvered shutters. A pair could be affixed to the door as well. The ones that you can adjust will give you more light/privacy options. You could get the unfinished ones and either paint them white or finish them to match your dining chairs.

Maybe it's the angle of the pic but your light seems off center of the table. The stark black and round nature of both will emphasize that.

Yes the table was not entered under the light. I have thought about plantation shutters but then would need more Colorado. I will attach a pic of the other wall and what the room opens up to. Thanks so much!
