Painting furniture vs. buying new furniture

I'm wanting to update my dining room furniture by having it painted. The total cost to have a table with 2 leafs and 6 chairs painted is $900.00. What do you think replace or update?

If the table and chairs are solid wood, and you love the style, have them painted. Make sure they are still sturdy and not wobbly. You could also just replace the table or the chairs, and have the remaining pieces painted.

It depends on the quality of the pieces you have, their style and why you think paint will update them.

That sounds high for something you could DIY. If it is good quality wood sell it and get what you want. If not you can paint it yourself.

Wow, that is a great price. A few thoughts...if you love the pieces and the shape and scale are pleasing in your space, painting can be a great way to go. You can have fun with color and make a good set really fabulous. Painting can be tricky. A bad paint job can leave your pieces a mess. If you decide to paint, please be sure you are in the hands of an expert who will not skip any steps in giving you a beautiful, but functional and durable finish. Good luck with your project!
